Sexual contacts in which neither semen nor vaginal fluid or blood are transmitted into the partner’s body.

Skin gland which produces sebum, a fatty substance. Androgens stimulate an increased production of sebum. They are mainly located in the face, neck, back, chest, upper arms and neckline area. Sebaceous glands often open out into the hair follicle, sebum is then brought to the surface along the hair follicle.

Oily substance produced in the sebaceous glands which serves to keep skin and hair smooth.

The release of products via glands or glandlike cells of the body. Examples: Greasing of skin and hair (sebum), thermoregulation of the body (sweat), moisturizing of mucous membranes and binding of pathogenic organisms (nose secretion). The released product is called “secretion”.

Cream or tablet which tan the skin.

A hormone which causes a constriction of the blood vessels; in humans it regulates mood, sleep rhythm, sexual drive and body temperature

Finger and toe nails, head and body hair: they are connected to the skin, but are made of other materials, e.g. horn

A type of cancer that affects the skin: there are three different kinds of skin cancer: basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and the most serious: malignant melanoma. Malignant melanoma can occur even in younger people and can lead to death.

Also: pigmentation type. There are 6 different skin types, depending on how sensitive the skin responds to sunlight and how long a person can stay in the sun before getting a sunburn.

Male seminal fluid which is ejected during orgasm and which contains sperm cells.

Subcutaneous tissue: bottom skin layer consisting of loose connective tissue.

Hyperreaction of the skin to strong sun radiation; its symptoms are for example redness, vesicles or pustules
