Macroscopic search for term

With respect to the crude distinction (here: what can be observed on the skin by the naked eye)

Malignant search for term

Severe and progressively worsening (opposite: benign: mild and non-progressive)

Melanin search for term

Dark skin pigment formed by the skin to e.g. protect against the sun.

Melanocytes search for term

Cells which produced the skin pigment melanin.

Melanoma search for term

Malignant tumour which originates in pigment forming cells (melanocytes)

Messenger substance search for term

Chemical substances used to transmit information and signals within the body (chemical communication). Thus, they regulate the interplay of the cell in an organism (communication between the cells).

Microscopic search for term

With respect to the fine distinction (here: what can be seen under the microscope)

Mucous membrane search for term

A special type of skin, for example in the mouth, in the intestine, on the sexual organs. Mucous membrane, as compared to normal skin, has neither stratum corneum nor hair.
